Evolving Meta Quest Home

As the "boot space" users see when wearing their headsets, Quest Virtual Home evolved from a simple static environment into a dynamic social space with interactive augments. This project set the design strategy and vision for Home as the foundation of Meta's spatial computing ecosystem, eventually evolving into Mixed Reality Home.

Role
Senior Product Designer (IC)
Challenge

Transform Quest Virtual Home from a static transitional space into an interactive, engaging environment that deepens user connection to the platform.

Contribution

Led the vision and UX framework for Augments in Quest Home, generated alignment on metaphor, terminology and strategy. Worked on "First Encounters", Avatar Mirror, and Horizon Portal Augments.

Impact

Avatar Mirror significantly increased adoption of Meta Avatars and time spent in Home. "First Encounters" became a strategic story for Quest 3 launch, getting users to experience the magic of mixed reality on Quest. Horizon Portal reduced the friction for entering social experiences.
